Cyber Safety eSmart Licence

Commencing 2020 our school Students Online Policy will include the recommendation that all students complete and hold an eSmart Digital Licence.

Just as you make sure your child is safe in the real world, you are responsible to help ensure the same applies in the online world. With children getting online earlier and earlier, it is so important that you help keep them safe – and teach them how to make the right decisions, regardless of their age.

Become informed and protect your children by giving them the knowledge to be smart, safe and responsible online with the eSmart Digital Licence.

Students in Year 3 to Year 6  – should select and complete the Primary Licence

You can view more information and an example quiz on the site , to see what to expect before your child completes the interactive session at this address:  http://www.digitallicence.com.au/

The cost is $10 per child, which is paid on the website prior to beginning the sessions. The course is completed over 8 sessions. Feedback from others has been that Session 1 is the hardest and least relevant to primary aged children – so feel free to complete this session at the end rather than the beginning of the course.

Parents are encouraged to sit with your child as they complete the licence, then you are both on the same page with the information you have learnt, to protect yourselves personally and legally. Using real life scenarios, the eSmart Digital Licence teaches children and adolescents how to make the right choices online and explore the consequences of making poor decisions.

Once your child has completed their Licence, please print out their certificate for your own records and either email or provide a copy to the school for our records.

If your child is heading to High School next year, the Secondary Licence is highly recommended for both parents and students as additional digital issues are wider reaching during teenage years.

Technical Tips :

  • It has been bought to our attention that you may need to be in Internet Explorer not Google Chrome to complete the program.
  • Make sure you sign into the child's account not the Parent portal.
  • A child's account should let you choose an avatar in the first few screens.
  • If you use the parent account instead of the child’s account, you will not be issued with a certificate at the end and will need to re-do the whole course.

Thank you for your co-operation in guiding your child through this very important information.
