Skipping Club – Monday 8 March

Skipping Club this week was all about jumping with “Elastics”.  Students across Years 1-6 learnt the rhymes for elastics: Jingle Jangle, England Ireland and London Bridge.  The older students had fun teaching the younger children the jingles and jumping techniques.

Skipping Club Monday 15 March

Monday 15 March is our Skipping Challenge week. Students challenge themselves to skip continuously to reach a target of 25, 50, 100, 150, 200 skips etc. Once students have set their challenge, they will ask Miss Upchurch or Caleb to watch their attempt. Those students who complete these challenges with the correct skipping technique will receive a certificate at the next PA assembly.

It is great to see lots of growth in students skipping and determination on Mondays!

The following students were presented with their Skipping certificates this week for achieving a Skipping Challenge milestone.

25 Skips   = Isabelle, Tessa, Kiara, Caleb, Kai, Bonnie, Marshall, Koa, Niamh, Lara K ,  Lara M

100 Skips = Koby, Torie, Stella, Rose

150 Skips = Miles, Amber, Will

Keep up the great skipping everyone!

In-school Hockey clinics

Over the next four weeks, the Lower Great Southern Hockey Association development officer, Dinah Gordon, will be attending LGPS and running some in-school hockey clinics for our junior students in Pre-Primary to Year 3.  At our first session the focus was on correct hand grip and control of the ball through fun games. For safety, all students need to wear closed in shoes for these sessions – don’t forget your shoes on Mondays!

After School Hockey Club

This week was the first of 4 sessions for our after-school Hockey Club. 20 students across Year 3-6 have shown interest in this club. Unfortunately it started to rain just before the session began, so it took place in our undercover area.  The focus of this session was being safe while having fun doing a variety of different hockey skills. Particularly keeping their ball on the end of their stick while moving around Dinah’s obstacle course.  Students finished off the session with a tackling game, which is always a favourite of students!
