Pre-Primary have been learning many things in Music classes, with the main focus being Rhythm and Beat. These are very important in music, once you can recognise or feel the beat then the rhythm fits in around it to create interest. Rhythm is the key element in all music. You can mix together any sounds you want, but if there is no underlying rhythm to the sounds, then it doesn’t sound good to anyone listening.
In its most basic and essential form, music is rhythm and melody, and a melody can’t exist without some type of rhythm. One of the best and most fundamental ways to learn or improve rhythm is clapping to the beat, then make it more interesting by doubling up a clap, or take one away. It’s less about what you do specifically and more about just really getting into the groove and letting the music naturally tell you what to do.
