On Wednesday 4 September our Choir went to the Music Festival at the Albany Entertainment Centre (AEC) to perform in the Albany Primary Schools’ Music Festival. The festival is a showcase night for the schools in the Albany area to show what they are doing in their music classes.
In previous years we have had a very full program with around 9-11 schools performing, which means a huge number of students are involved, making it very difficult to get tickets, sometimes selling out in an hour! This year we trialled splitting the schools and having the performances over two nights; on Wednesday Australian Christian College, Bethel Christian School, Little Grove PS, Mount Lockyer PS and St Joseph’s College performed. For the Thursday concert Albany PS, Flinders Park PS, Mt Barker Community College, Parklands School and Spencer Park PS performed.
The Little Grove Choir chose to perform “Blame it on the Boogie” and “The Lion King Medley”. I am so proud of how well the students in the choir managed to work together and come up with a really good performance of these songs, including choreography. A special thank you to Liesel and Emma for suggesting such good song choices.
Both evenings culminated with the same final song, “A Better World”, which was performed by all the students who took part in each of the performances. It is really inspiring to see so many students filling the stage and singing together so beautifully.
